If I were to ask you how you are feeling, and you were to reply in truth and not say ‘I’m fine” , you would in all likelihood tell me about the symptoms that you are experiencing. You might say that I can’t sleep and am very tired, or I am depressed at the moment, or I am going through a stage of binge eating. These would all be symptoms.
At Neurobalance we are interested in what lies below the symptoms. What is the real source of your insomnia or your depression?
In order to find out, we would start by mapping your brain. Mapping involves placing sensors on your head and measuring your brain wave activity. This information is then passed through software and produces what we call a map. This map shows the amounts of slow and fast waves in your brain at each of the measured positions.
The interpretation of the map is an interesting exercise for most people. By examining the ratios between the various waves in different areas, we can see what drives a person’s life. We can give you information about the way you respond to stress and traumatic events, how well you manage your emotions, how well you are able to concentrate and be motivated, and how much stamina you have. We can see how well you relate to the people and the world around you, whether your immune system is in good shape, and what effect past trauma have on the way you react to situations in the present.
Should you then decide to train, you would commit to 6 two-hour sessions within a two-week period. The training session is similar to the map, in that we place the sensors on the areas where we have detected an imbalance. The difference is that during training the software would convert the brain wave activity into sound which is then played back to you through ear phones. This has the effect of allowing the brain to see itself.
Its like walking around all day with a dirty smudge on your f ace. You don’t know it’s there till you look in the mirror. When you see it, you know what to do about it. Its a similar situation with the brain. When it hears the sounds, it is able to relate them to its own functioning and the information that it receives enables it to move towards a situation of balance.
So as the training progresses we see the brain start to let go of stored trauma and improve its functioning. This is not a linear process, and we need to allow the process to occur at its own pace, and to be noticing the changes as they happen. We can map the changes for you. And afterwards you will be living the fact that a balanced brain makes for a love of life.
